Works like a debit card, but with tons of consumer and fraud protection features plus wider acceptance while increasing your credit rating for when/if you really do need to borrow some money.

@Jerryahrens - happened to you too, huh? Chase broke a contract (2.99% being good for life). They tried this with me, I called and argued. I asked why and the dumb azz (a manager) came right out and said "all you're using the card for is the 2.99% balance transfer [guilty - I know a cheap loan when I see it]. (I'm in NY) - told them I'd be in touch with Cuomo (the AG) and other consumer protection orgs in the state. Word went up, they went back to the 2%, said they made a "mistake".

Bash credit cards all you want, but I like receiving $100 - $300 back for spending my money. The best part is I don't have to pay a fee to do it like with many debit cards.

These cards are not the problem. If you are irresponsible and choose to develop bad credit you will be reduced to getting these types of cards. If you are responsible and pay your bills on time you will be able to get better credit terms. Or be really smart and live with in your means and don't use credit. Its really up to you. I only use cards for buying things online that are cheaper than what is available where i live.
